The Okotoks Dawgs are heating up just as fast as the weather is in Okotoks. The Dawgs beat the Edmonton Prospects 9-3 tonight at Seaman Stadium to run their winning streak to nine games.
The Dawgs offence continues to muscle their way to victories this summer. Each game of this winning streak has seen the Dawgs pump out double digit hits. Jerod Bartnik from UBC led the hit parade tonight as he went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI’s, a double and one run scored. Stetson Olson cranked out his team high fifth blast of the year along with his eighteenth and nineteenth RBI’s.
Ryan Rogers is starting to show signs of his dominating form from last summer. Rogers had a great bounce back outing in his last start, and tonight he threw six more quality innings. Rogers only allowed two earned runs as he struck out three, picking up his third win in the process.
The big man in the pen, Matt Thornton, another UBC guy, got the final four outs in a non-save situation. Thornton has not worked in awhile, so the Dawgs gave him a chance to throw some pitches. Thornton was lighting up the radar gun in the low 90’s as he recorded 2 punch-outs.
The Dawgs have Friday off before resuming action on Saturday as the Lethbridge Bulls roll into town. The Dawgs will look to push their streak to double digits, as they go for their tenth straight win. Saturday night mark’s the Dawgs mascot, Diggity’s birthday, should be a blast, see you there!
