The Okotoks Dawgs hit their way to another victory with an 8 – 6 win over the division rival Lethbridge Bulls. This has extended their winning streak to 10 straight wins and a tie for first atop the West Division.
Third year Dawg Danny Britton-Foster got the start and threw 6 and 1/3 innings giving up 4 earned runs and moving his season record to 3 – 0. Matt Thornton was a bit shaky tonight but came through for the Dawgs and got out of a bases loaded jam to record his 7th save of the season and secure another victory for the home team.
Tonight’s lineup consisted of most of the Dawgs top players and it showed on the scoreboard since they sprayed out 10 hits to go along with their 8 runs. They jumped on the scoreboard early tonight getting 1 run in the first and 4 in the second. Trace Tam-Sing (Washington State University) and Tres Eberhardt (Xavier University) led the way with Tam-Sing scoring 3 runs and Eberhardt coming through with a key RBI double in the second inning.
Tomorrow the Dawgs will be playing a doubleheader against the Medicine Hat Mavericks at 2:05 pm and the Lethbridge Bulls at 6:05 pm. These are non-league games and are played as part of a fundraiser. The next official league game for the Dawgs will be on Monday in Medicine Hat when the Mavs and Dawgs will be fighting for first place in the division.
