The Okotoks Dawgs are very pleased to announce the first signing for next summer’s roster, as the club has re-signed outfielder Jerod Bartnik for the 2013 WMBL season.
A native of Surrey, BC, Bartnik will be coming off of his sophomore year at the University of British Columbia in 2013. Bartnik was a solid contributor in the Dawgs lineup all summer in 2012, while coming off of his freshman year at UBC. Playing mainly in right field this summer, Jerod hit .270 with 7 doubles, 4 homeruns and 22 RBI while stealing 4 bases.
Bartnik is grateful for the chance to return to Okotoks,
“I’m really excited to come back to Okotoks and play for the Dawgs again. I had one of the best summers of my life this past summer and I've missed it ever it since I left. Playing at home isn't even close to the same as playing in front of all those great fans. Im already counting down the days until I get to come back to Okotoks!”
Dawgs Managing Director John Ircandia expects Jerod to take his game to another level in 2013, with another year of experience behind him,
“We are very happy to welcome Jarod back to the 2013 Dawgs. Even as a freshman last season, he was a bright spot and proved he could really swing the bat. Look for a few more balls to leave the yard after his sophomore season at UBC. We are determined to put a first rate product on the field for our fans in 2013 and a return to our winning ways. Signing Jarod is a solid first step in that regard.”
We look forward to welcoming Jerod back to the Dawg Pound next June. The Dawgs have already turned the page to 2013 and are focused on fighting to get back to the top of the WMBL, where Okotoks is used to being!
