Okotoks, Alta. - The Dawgs are pleased to announce the addition of Omar Celaya (RHP - Nyack College), Jose Corrales (RHP - Nyack College) and Aderly Perez (University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) for the upcoming 2017 campaign.
A senior at Nyack College (NCAA: DIV II), Celaya will be making his debut for the collegiate program when the calendar flips to June. Standing at 6’1”, 215-pounds from Yuma, AZ, Celaya possesses a mid-to-high 80s fastball, accompanied by a curveball and changeup. Celaya was named to the All-CACC-First Team as a relief pitcher and was second in the CACC in saves. Before hurling for the Warriors, Celaya threw for Arizona Western College, pitching 27.2 innings, earning three wins and finishing with a 4.55 ERA.
2017 with Nyack College: 22 IP 30 K (1-0) 2.05 ERA 8 SV
Teammate Jose Corrales, also a senior, will be donning the red and white jersey for the first time this summer. Standing at 6’3”, 235-pounds from Guatemala City, GT, Corrales is a talented pitcher with a heavy fastball and quality curveball. The product from Guatemala was one of Nyack’s top dogs this past season. The right-hander showed promising improvement from his 2016 campaign, where he was second on the team in punch outs with 47 but owned a 5.85 ERA.
2017 with Nyack College: 54.2 IP 50 K (4-4) 2.30 ERA
Adding experience to a young Dawgs infield is senior Aderly Perez. The 5’10”, 195-pound Philadelphia, PA product enjoyed a fantastic 2016 season with the Golden Lions (NCAA: DIV I), hitting for a .351 AVG with seven doubles, 21 RBI and one home run. In 2017 -- a down year for Arkansas Pine Bluff -- Perez slashed a .242 AVG, along with nine doubles, eight stolen bases, 18 RBI and three home runs.

The collegiate Dawgs open their season June 2 against the Medicine Hat Mavericks at Seaman Stadium. First pitch flies at 7:05pm.
