The Okotoks Dawgs (3-0) are on the road to take on the Brooks Bombers (1-3) for their first road game of the season at Elks Field tonight, June 7.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
The Dawgs have gotten off to a blistering start to their campaign, winning all three games in their first home stand of the season. Okotoks defeated the Medicine Hat Mavericks on Opening Day, 7-6, in walk-off fashion before taking game two 14-11 in an absolute offensive shootout. The Dawgs would follow up those performances with a 9-6 win over the Edmonton Prospects during their Sunday matinee game.
A SEASON AGO
In 2016, the Dawgs had a perfect 8-0 record against the Bombers, outscoring their counterparts 45-8.
SWINGING THE LUMBER
Okotoks recorded a season-high 14 hits against Edmonton Sunday, June 4. Four Dawgs (Greg Cullen, Kody Funderburk, Jayse McLean and Joel Brophy) recorded multi-hit games while the Dawgs as a team have tallied 34 hits in their first three contests. This places them eighth in the league, with as many as three less games played.
FATHER’S DAY GAME
Although the Dawgs are away from Seaman Stadium for the next six days, there’s no reason not to be geared up for one of the most anticipated games of the season. June 18 against Brooks, the Dawgs will host their annual Father’s Day event.
The Man Van will be parked outside Seaman Stadium gates for the entirety of the game, helping Okotokians get checked for prostate cancer.
Greg Cullen (R) in 2017: 6-12, 2 R, 3 2B, 7 RBI, .500 AVG [Tied for the lead in average in WMBL]
