The Okotoks Dawgs (6-2) take on the (7-1) Lethbridge Bulls in a home-and-home series beginning today, June 13. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.

The Dawgs kicked off and ended their five-game road trip on a strong note. Kody Funderburk homered twice in game one against Brooks, defeating the Bombers 9-6 before taking back-to-back losses in Edmonton and Fort McMurray. Okotoks rallied in a big way in their final two games against the Giants, winning a defensive showdown in extra innings, 2-1, before mounting a three-run comeback in the finale of the trip, edging Fort McMurray, 5-3.

The Dawgs won three of five games against the Bulls in 2016, outscoring their counterpart 45-33.

In his first year as a Dawg, Greg Cullen has displayed some promising talent. Through eight games played, the Niagara University product holds onto a .354 average with 11 hits and 11 RBI. Number 18 is also tied for the team lead with Jayse McLean for extra-base hits with five.

Liam Stroud gets the nod to begin tonight’s home-and-home series with the Lethbridge Bulls. Battling a blister on his throwing hand in his first outing, the UBC product threw 3.1 innings of one-run baseball before leaving with discomfort.

A year ago, Stroud was fourth in the WMBL in terms of ERA (3.37) and is entering his third year as a member of the red and white.

There’s no reason not to be geared up for one of the most anticipated games of the season. June 18 against Brooks, the Dawgs will host their annual Father’s Day event.

The Man Van will be parked outside Seaman Stadium gates for the entirety of the game, helping Okotokians get checked for prostate cancer.

Greg Cullen (R): 11-31, 5 R, 4 2B, 11 RBI, .354 AVG

Brendan Rose in 2016 vs Bulls: .400 AVG (8-20), 3 R, RBI, 2 2B, reached base safely in all five games played

The Dawgs travel to Lethbridge tomorrow before taking on the Medicine Hat Mavericks in a home-and-home series June 15-16.

Our next home stand is Friday to Sunday, June 16-18. The Mavericks come to town ahead of the Edmonton Prospects and Brooks Bombers.
