The Okotoks Dawgs (11-5) take on the Lethbridge Bulls (11-6) in the beginning of a home-and-home series tonight, June 24. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
The Dawgs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead last night, only to exchange shots with the Moose Jaw Miller Express for the first five innings. The Express took off late in the contest, scoring four runs in the top of the ninth to earn a 14-7 victory and split the two-game series with the Dawgs. Kody Funderburk hit back-to-back bombs while Matt Lloyd also chipped in with his second home run of the season in the loss.
JUST THE BEGINNING
Okotoks and Lethbridge will be more than familiar with each other within the week. In their next seven games, the Dawgs clash with the Bulls six times, three of them at Seaman Stadium -- including a double header tomorrow, June 25. So far, the Dawgs lead the series 1-0, defeating the Bulls 12-9 in their initial matchup. Jayse McLean hit three home runs, overcoming an early 7-1 deficit.
KEEP GUNNIN’ YOUNGIN’
Rookie Graham Brunner has shown that he is more than capable of pitching at the collegiate level. Through two games played, the Dawgs Academy product has thrown 11.2 innings of two-run baseball, while allowing just five hits and fanning eight. He holds a record of 1-0 and gets the ball tonight.
