The Okotoks Dawgs (11-6) take on the Lethbridge Bulls (12-6) in a double-header at Seaman Stadium today, June 25. Game one begins at 2:05pm, game two starts at 7:05pm.

Graham Brunner pitched another fantastic game last night, throwing six solid frames in his third quality start with the collegiate club. Offensively, Kody Funderburk led the game off with an RBI double, while Eddie Sanchez stroked a two-run single in the fifth, but the Dawgs bullpen couldn’t hold on in a 7-5 loss.

Okotoks and Lethbridge are now tied at one game apiece in their season series this year. This will have an entirely new outlook in the next six games, as the two match up five times. Currently, as it stands, Lethbridge is a half-game ahead of the Dawgs in the standings. Albeit early, the next few games can make a significant impact on the standings. To get an outside look at how close these two teams really are, the Dawgs have narrowly outscored Lethbridge 17-16 through two games.

Nick Vickers will toe the rubber in game one today. Vickers came out of the gate strong, tossing five innings of one-run baseball while striking out eight against the Brooks Bombers. He is looking to bounce back from his latest start in Medicine Hat and is currently 1-1 on the campaign.

July 1st comes quickly, so make sure to grab your tickets to one of the biggest games this season. Live bands, fireworks, you name it, the Dawgs will have you set up for a memorable night as they take on the reigning WMBL champion, the Swift Current 57’s. The gates will open at 3pm!

Peter Hutzal: Two-game hitting streak
Kody Funderburk: Three-game hitting streak [seven hits over that span, 2 HR]
Matt Lloyd: Three-game hitting streak [seven hits over that span, HR -- leads team in average]

Zach Hanna (R): 17-50, 6 R, 6 2B, 7 RBI, 340 AVG [14 hits in his last eight games]

Matt Lloyd: 14-36, 8 R, 2 HR, 9 RBI, .389 AVG

Kody Funderburk: 20-61, 12 R, 4 HR, 16 RBI, .328 AVG

The Dawgs have an off day tomorrow before travelling to Lethbridge on Tuesday, June 27. They are back home against the Brooks Bombers, June 28. First pitch is 7:05pm.
