The Okotoks Dawgs are proud to announce left-handed pitcher, Nick Vickers, has committed to play for the NCAA division one Virginia Tech Hokies of the ACC this fall.

"It's something I've been working for my entire life," he said.

"So it's a dream come true."

The Calgary, AB product enjoyed a fantastic year with Colby Community College a season ago, leading the team in strikeouts with 87 over 60 innings pitched, while holding an ERA of 3.58.

With the Dawgs in 2017, he's fanned 14 over nine innings of work, good for second on the club.

Virginia Tech has added the lefty following a 23-32 campaign, while finishing the year 14-13 in the friendly confines of English Field at Union Park.

In the 2017 MLB draft, two Hokies were selected.

The Dawgs take on the (6-14) Brooks Bombers tonight at Seaman Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
