The Okotoks Dawgs (13-8) are on the road to clash against the Lethbridge Bulls (14-7) in the beginning of a home-and-home series tonight, June 29. First pitch is schedule for 7:05pm.

With his Niagara University teammate on second in the bottom of the tenth, Greg Cullen notched his sixth hit in the last two games, lacing a curveball to right field. The throw from the outfield came a split second late as Joel Brophy slid head-first, scoring the game-winning run, allowing the Dawgs to pour out of the dugout to meet Cullen 90 feet down the line. A 5-4 victory over the Brooks Bombers is what the scoreboard read.

An inning before it was Ethan Fox getting the Dawgs out of a one-out, bases loaded jam with a pair of K's.

Last night wasn’t the first time Cullen walked it off in extra innings this year. Some may remember the home opener, where the Penfield, NY, product was up to much of the same. A single off his bat in the tenth, once again, notched the Dawgs’ first win of the campaign.

A night ago, Jack Rupe Jr. couldn’t have had a better second outing with the Dawgs. After allowing two runs to cross the plate in the top of the first, Rupe shut the Bombers down for six straight innings, at one point retiring 12 straight batters. The most impressive note of his outing was his control, issuing no free passes while striking out seven. Rupe still stands with a 0-0 record and a 5.40 ERA.

Liam Stroud gets the nod tonight after back-to-back scoreless relief appearances against Moose Jaw and Edmonton. Stroud is 0-0 with a 7.36 ERA on the year.

Currently, the Dawgs are one-game back of first place in the West division, behind the Bulls in a fight for first place tonight.

July 1st comes quickly, so make sure to grab your tickets to one of the biggest games this season. Live bands, fireworks, you name it, the Dawgs will have you set up for a memorable night as they take on the reigning WMBL champion, the Swift Current 57’s. The gates will open at 3pm!

Greg Cullen (R): 25-77, 16 R, 6 2B, 3 3B, 16 RBI, .325 AVG [Six hits in his last two games]

Eddie Sanchez: 19-45, 16 R, 8 RBI, .422 AVG [11 hits in his last five games]

The Dawgs finish their home-and-home series with the Bulls tomorrow at Seaman Stadium. First pitch flies at 7:05pm.
