Okotoks, AB - The Okotoks Dawgs are pleased to announce that utility infielder, Matt Lloyd, has been named WMBL Player of the Week.

From July 3-9, Lloyd racked up 14 hits in six games played while collecting six doubles and nine RBI. His biggest game came against the Brooks Bombers where he racked up three hits, scored four runs, drove in four RBI and hit his third home run of the campaign.

The incredible week propelled Lloyd to top spot in the WMBL in terms of batting average, hitting .417 on the season.

The Calgary product represented Indiana University on the Mideast All-Region team in the fall. With the big-ten school, Lloyd ranked second in batting average (.301) and second in doubles (16). On the mound, Lloyd was equally impressive, tossing a 3-2 record with a 2.23 ERA.

This is the third time a Dawg has been named WMBL Player of the Week. Jayse McLean and Justin Vernia were previously mentioned.

The Dawgs are on the road for a pair of games against Brooks and the Medicine Hat Mavericks July 12-13, before finishing their home-and-home series with Medicine Hat, July 15.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
