The Okotoks Dawgs (30-11) take on the Lethbridge Bulls (24-19) today, July 25. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
The Dawgs made it a perfect Saskatchewan road trip with a sweep of the Regina Red Sox -- taking game two of the series, 10-5. Chris Horvath continued the impressive string of outings from the pitching staff, tossing six innings of two-run baseball for his fourth win of 2017. Five of six victories on the road came from the starting rotation. Offensively, Zach Hanna and John Hawk led the pack, combining for eight hits while Darius Foster chipped in with his fourth multi-hit day of the campaign. Kody Funderburk put his seal of approval late in the contest with his 13th home run of the season while veteran Dawg, Brendan Rose, had arguably the biggest knock of the day, ripping a two-RBI double in the fourth frame to give the Dawgs their first lead. He finished the day 1-2.
KNOW YOUR STARTER
Anthony Balderas gets the ball tonight in the first of four home games this week. Balderas has put together quite the campaign, tying Justin Vernia and Horvath for the team lead in wins with four. The Lewis-Clark product has earned the win in his last three starts, firing 20 innings, allowing just five runs. Over the course of 2017, Balderas is 4-1 with a 3.09 ERA.
Coming off a perfect Saskatchewan road trip, the red and white not only have the best record in the WMBL, but are also the first team to reach the 30-win mark. Currently, the Dawgs are eight games ahead of the Prospects -- the only team that could catch them in the standings -- and would win the head-to-head tiebreaker if the two were to finish the regular season with the same record.
Now that the Dawgs have clinched a spot in the postseason, our playoff tickets are now on sale! All nine-game playoff packages will be $180. Individual playoff tickets are now available online for the first two games of the opening series, August 1 and 2.
