The Okotoks Dawgs (32-13) host the Fort McMurray Giants (19-26) today, July 28, beginning their final home stand of the season. First pitch flies at 7:05pm.

TO RECAP
The Dawgs found their way back into the win column in a tightly knit 5-4 contest over the Medicine Hat Mavericks at Athletic Park last night. On the mound, it was Ethan Fox making his debut in the starting rotation and tossing five innings, allowing two runs. Fox struck out three in his first start of 2017 and continued a string of quality outings from the starting staff. Taylor Davis, Corey Jackson and Tyler Burdett came on in relief of Fox and fired four shutout innings -- the latter recording his 13th save. Brendan Rose had a strong performance at the plate, hitting his second home run in his five-year tenure as a Dawg while registering a multi-hit night. Okotoks kept piling on their franchise-high for blasts in a single season when Jayse McLean laced a two-run bomb in the fifth inning, making it 44 as a collective unit. Following last night’s win, 12 batters have now hit at least one home run this year.

QUALITY STARTS
Okotoks has now gotten at least five innings out of their starting pitcher in the last ten games, dating back to July 16. Justin Vernia, Graham Brunner, Anthony Balderas, Chris Horvath, Liam Stroud, Ethan Fox, CJ Lewington and Jack Rupe have all had a hand in the current streak.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE…
For Matt Lloyd’s historic hitting streak that ended last night. Over 24 consecutive games, Lloyd tallied 44 hits and has hit safely in all but three games this year.

FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT
Is there a better day than Fan Appreciation Day? We don’t think so. We want to take this time to thank each and every one of you for supporting the Dawgs this season, so come on by Seaman Stadium tonight as your Dawgs take on the Fort Mac Giants. Billet families will be recognized prior to first pitch, we will be presenting our 700,000th fan AND the Blue Jays raffle winner will be announced.
